The Mad Rant

About

The Mad Rant is somewhere to write how you actually see the world, in whatever shape it comes out. A rant, a poem, one paragraph, a mess of a paragraph.

What you write gets set as a piece of work - given a typeface, a colour, a page of its own - and put on the wall for other people to read. It is not a post, and it is not a status update. Nobody can reply to it.

What happens to what you write

  1. It gets screened. An automated check looks for a small number of specific things - mostly whether someone appears to be in danger right now, and whether a piece contains something that could hurt another reader. It does not judge the writing.
  2. A person reads it. Every single piece. Nothing goes on the wall automatically.
  3. It goes up, or it doesn't. If it doesn't, that is about safety, not about quality. Nobody is judging your writing.

What we keep

No account, no email address, no password. If you put a name on a piece it is just a label on that piece - it isn't linked to anything else you write.

Your IP address is never stored. It is turned into a one-way scramble the moment it arrives, which is enough to stop a bot flooding the site and useless for anything else. Nothing about where you are or what device you used ever appears on a published piece.

We count visits, using self-hosted analytics that sets no cookies and builds no profile of you. It records which pages get read - not who read them, and never anything you write. The page you land on after sending a piece is excluded entirely, because its address is the one link between you and what you wrote. If your browser asks not to be tracked, we don't.

What this isn't

It is not therapy, not a crisis service, and not monitored in real time. If things are bad right now, these are people who can actually help.
